Objective

Drainage Networks Operation and Maintenance Department (DNO&OM) of Assets of the Public Works Authority (PWA) have initiated this project with the purpose to reduce and eliminate flooding at a number of Hot Spot locations across the Doha. Draft conceptual designs have been established by the PWA utilising a combination of standard and novel methods to collect and manage surface water run-off. The basic concept design behind the design has been attenuation at origin, taking advantage of the favourable conditions the country offers for evaporation and surface infiltration, and minimizing the contribution to downstream S&GW systems.

Brief description of the works

The general scope of work for design and construction of the Surface Water Drainage system includes, but not limited to:

• Survey and Design the drainage works
• Construction of Surface water network
• Construction of Perforated pipe with gravel trench (trench soakaway)
